There were 10 residents that participated in the service last week at the Nursing Home Rehab unit at Kennedy. Mary Shipley played the piano, Kathy Thomas provided special music, and Brian Smith gave the message. There is a mail box near the church office for Christmas Cards that you may want to send within the church family. Please alpha sort and rubber band them before putting them in the box. Leftovers…. Now there is a post Thanksgiving thought to chew on for a few minutes. I happen to enjoy leftovers; some things are even better the second day. With all leftovers, there does come a certain point when they need to be discarded. The prophet rebuked God’s people for offering “moldy bread” on the table of showbread [Malachi 1:7].
Thanksgiving week is upon us. Family, feasting, and football will headline many homes in just a few short days. May we learn to appreciate all that God has given to us and all that He has allowed in our lives. In every circumstance [good or bad] we are to give thanks to our God. On the Sunday Nursing Home Ministry, Brian Smith writes …we were blessed with 30 residents at the service. Anna Bates played special music. Anna, Rachel, and Janice accompanied our hymns. Alice read her poem, " Purpose in Life." Tim Bates prayed and read scripture. Alan Steward and Phil and Pat McKishen assisted the residents. I spoke on "Great is Thy Faithfulness."
We appreciated our few days of Bible Conference this past week and trust that the Lord will use this in the hearts and lives of people. For those who made the effort to be here, we appreciate your faithfulness. Our average attendance Mon-Wed was 127 and the offering was $1,734. May the positive effects of these days of ministry continue
We appreciate all who are involved in teaching in the Children’s Church program. This allows many parents to fully benefit from the 11 AM worship services. Dale Oxley, faithful servant of Christ, was called home to glory on September 30; he was 85. Dale and Betty went to Japan in 1952 and served as church planters for half a century. They were supported by our church since the late 1950’s. Liz and I attended the memorial service this past week in Hermitage, TN. I

We retired one of our church vans this past week and changed the “use” of another one. High mileage and pending repairs made this necessary; they have served us well. We continue to rent buses for school trips and sporting events, and we use the vans to supplement from time to time.We appreciate those who play in the HBC orchestra
We rejoice in a good full week of school at Gloucester County Christian School. We did receive our temporary Certificate of Occupancy for the new building and are using the classrooms and offices. There were numerous inspections! There are many details and finish items that we are tending to these days. We will turn our attention to the Assembly Room

Many thanks to the different ones involved in the 4-H Fair Ministry this year. We gave away a slice of watermelon and gospel tract to many that stopped by our booth.
