May

Back Page: May 1, 2011

It is hard to believe that May is here already. Many will start that backyard garden soon, we will spend hours outside manicuring our lawns, and it seems like our time spent in leisure will increase as we look ahead to the official start of summer with the Memorial Day weekend.  Look for a number of special events and opportunities to serve here this May at HBC.

It was 400 years ago, May 2nd, that the most important book in the English language was published.  It is still the best selling book of all time, the King James Version of the Bible, published in 1611 – this is the 400th anniversary of this!   This month Pastor will do two messages on the KJV and will show a Sunday night DVD on how the KJV came to be.  We need to appreciate and recognize this aspect of literary history this month.

Ministry Opportunity:   Bradford,  PA      July 24 We are looking for a few to help in a construction project at Faith Baptist Church [Bill Raymond].  We will leave Sunday after church and work Mon – Wed of that week.  We also need a few to assist in a VBS that they run at night – see Pastor today if you can be a part of this ministry team.

We will premiere the new film, Milltown Pride, from Unusual Films [BJU] on two nights here in May.  Set aside Friday or Saturday, the 20th and 21st, at 7 PM.  Two churches in NJ are premiering this film before it is released to the general public.   Admission is free, and the film will be at 7 PM.  Invite a friend to either or both nights!

The final Men’s Breakfast of the season will be in two weeks.  A special thanks to Bill Komand who oversees this ministry and for the other men who help.  It is a great opportunity to present the Gospel in personal testimony and challenge.     – Pastor
