And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years
of the right hand of the most High. I will remember the works
of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.
Dear Members and Friends of Hardingville Bible Church,
This is a season of reflection. Indeed, this was true of those early Pilgrims who started this great American tradition we call Thanksgiving. I thought I read somewhere that they even played a game of football with the Indians they invited over for the feast.
During these days of reflection we are to count our blessings and return praise to God for His goodness. I looked back in a file the other day at my first Thanksgiving letter to the HBC family; it was the fall of 1982. In that letter I talked about the blessing of Harmony Hall and the need for a special offering here at the church. In those days we paid a mortgage payment once a year on that building, and it was due on December 1st. In that Thanksgiving letter, I appealed to God’s people to sacrificially give as we had a Thank Offering goal of $3,200 for that mortgage payment. This was five times our weekly budget. We were praying and trusting the Lord to meet that huge need. Yes, He did; we were thrilled. Sit with a cup of your favorite coffee or tea, and review, reflect, remember, and rehearse God’s many blessings to you this Thanksgiving season.
I would like to personally invite you and your family to attend our Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, November 19th, beginning at 6:00 PM. We will provide a number of turkeys for the main course and would like each family to bring a covered dish or dessert to share. Pastor Dave Field, of Truth Bible Church, will be our guest speaker that night. On Thanksgiving Eve, November 23rd, we will have our annual Pie ‘N Praise Fellowship. Following a praise service in the sanctuary, we look forward to a special dessert time! Bring your favorite pie to share; we will provide coffee and punch for all! We did have 66 pies in attendance last year. This is always a sweet time for the HBC family, and I hope you will join us this year!
Psalms 105:5 states: “Remember his marvelous works that he hath done.”
With gratitude for His goodness,
Mark Franklin, Pastor
