The Pastor’s Study
Dear Members and Friends of Hardingville,
Peace at Christmas. What does this world really know about peace? Surely, it is more than the cessation or absence of war. We who know Christ as Savior have come to appreciate a very special peace in the heart. As we look ahead to Christmas, think with me about the subject of peace for a moment. One of the titles of our Lord is “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). He is the Prince that will bring peace to troubled hearts. Luke mentions “peace” three times in the birth narrative of our Lord: the prophecy by Zacharias: To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace (Luke 1:79), the announcement of the angel: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men (Luke 2:14), and the testimony of Simeon: Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word (Luke 2:29). Friend, do you have peace this Christmastime? Only a personal relationship with Jesus Christ can give lasting peace.
Allow me to personally invite you and your family to some special opportunities to rejoice with us this Christmas Season.
- Our annual Christmas Dinner will be Saturday night, December 17th, at 6 PM, and will be held at the church. There will be some special music and a challenge from our missionary Bill Knipe.
- On Sunday night, the 18th, we will have a very special Christmas Musical here at HBC. Our choir will present, “The Newborn King.” There will be Adult and Children’s Choirs and dramatic readers. You will not want to miss this special evening of rejoicing in the birth of the Lord Jesus! Invite a friend.
We will have a special Christmas Eve Service on the 24th at 7 PM. Be sure to be with us! I wish you and your family a Blessed Christmas! Share the enclosed tract with a friend.
With warm greetings to all,
Mark Franklin, Pastor
