Does your voice count? At times, we wonder. Voicing your concern over matters like this is your right and duty as a Christian and citizen. Many called their State Senator and our governor’s office this week regarding the Marriage Equality and Religious Exemption Act to be voted upon this week in our state. This bill redefines marriage and condones what God clearly condemns in His Word. There is a “religious exemption” in the bill which will excuse clergy from being forced to marry homosexuals.
America’s 16th president was a devoted Bible reader but never joined a church. Growing up in poverty, the Bible was one of the few books Lincoln owned. When he became president, its words and phrases found their way into many of his speeches.
Lincoln once wrote, “I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated to us through this book.” Today we remember the birthday of this great president.
