The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld “Obamacare,” by a vote of 5-4.  This decision affects how we will receive and pay for personal medical care.  Breaking with the court’s other conservative justices, Chief Justice John Roberts explained at length the court’s view of the mandate as a “valid exercise of Congress’ authority to lay and collect taxes.” Even though Congress called it a penalty, not a tax, Roberts said, “The payment is collected solely by the IRS through the normal means of taxation.”  OneNewsNow reported that “roughly 4 million people will pay the penalty rather than buy insurance.”
The makeup of the Supreme Court is very important to Bible-believing Christians and conservatives.  Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the left-leaning justices: Breyer, Ginsburg, Kagan and Sotomayor.   Why?  I do not know!   Justices Alito, Kennedy, Scalia and Thomas dissented.  Kennedy was quoted as saying “In our view, the act before us is invalid in its entirety.”   The fundamental problem in this entire matter is that the government is forcing its citizens to buy something and then will penalize them if they do not.   This is way out of bounds from the original intent of our founding fathers and  the US Constitution.  What does this clip art have to do with the news story – you figure it out.  What’s next?  Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council stated:  “this goes beyond what the Constitution allows in terms of what the government can do.”
All of this makes the November election even more historic; Obamacare needs to be repealed.  While the sitting president desires to leave his mark or legacy on healthcare for all, he is, in fact, enslaving generations to come to pay for it.  What timing, a few days before we celebrate Independence Day here in America.  Let us remember that God is still on the Throne, and that His Word remains true.  Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34).
