The 2014 yearbook at GCCS is dedicated to Pastor Mark Franklin. You can see those pages and a tribute by Don Netz below:
The high school building that you are enjoying is a testimony to the work and vision of Pastor Mark Franklin. The cinderblock and girders that will last decades will be a physical reminder of his care for the ministry of GCCS. Much more than the physical building is the building of the lives that Pastor touched. He cared deeply, prayed fervently, mentored zealously, and preached and taught passionately.
I have had the distinct privilege of knowing Pastor while still in high school. I was able to see him develop the ability to preach in a small rescue mission in Philadelphia and a smoke filled nursing home in Atco. You would never know by his demeanor that he was a sought after preacher with an honorary doctorate and with a hymn commissioned in his honor.
He kept meticulous records, remembered names of people he met long ago, had wisdom beyond his years, and, in my opinion, saved the ministry of Gloucester County Christian School from certain closure.
His friends would jokingly quote Psalm 37:37 “Mark the perfect man and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.” Pastor would certainly not claim to be perfect but his friends and those who knew him would say he was the perfect fit for Hardingville Bible Church and Gloucester County Christian.
I am forever indebted for his influence in my life, the life of my family, and the life of the ministry that I love so much.
